A little happy dance for me!

I thought this would be such a quick stitch for me, but I generally way underestimate how quickly this slow stitcher stitches. And there were those days that I was just too tired (or depressed) to sit down with needle in hand.

Cat's Meow - The Drawn Thread
Cream Belfast linen
DMC + pearl cotton for mouse tails & beads for their noses

Hopefully I won't get the blues in the next few weeks because they will be challenging weeks. DH has his hip resurfacing surgery a week from today and it will mean a long drive back and forth to the Cleveland Clinic and of course dealing with so many unknowns. He won't be able to drive for 6 weeks or take a shower or bath for 2. Yuck.... We're just going to deal with it as it comes I guess. I hope he won't be in too much pain or discomfort. I don't think I would make a good nurse but maybe I'll surprise myself. I have only had to deal with the regular childhood illnesses, colds and flu and such.

This is what his new hip will look like

I'm going to be a bad, bad girl and start a new stitch today and neglect the housework. It's just one of those days, besides, it's snowing again and what better excuse do I need? :)

Hi! The mice on your kitty piece are so adorable! The whole piece is adorable!!

I know what you mean about being depressed. People don't always understand how that feels. Some might say "stitch - it'll make you feel better!" but you can't even pick it up at times.

Other than the old fashioned way of sponge bathing, there is a new product out there but for the life of me I can't remember the name of it. It's a special convenience item for people who are restricted from bathing. They are cloths in a package and you microwave them and bathe with them. I know a pregnant woman who was on bedrest and she said they were her salvation! Maybe you could get those for your hubby. I'm sure you'll be a fine nurse. Remember - don't be TOO NICE or he'll get used to it and recover more slowly!! :)

I live in Rochester NY so I also know about snow. I just said to my sister how the grey skies are getting old fast. We hardly get any sunshine in winter as we are on the "wrong" side of the lake. It seems there are always clouds in the sky covering the sun. Boo hoo. I think people in this position appreciate sunny days more than anyone!!
Hugs!

That's a very cute kitty piece. I adore the little mice (meeses?) running around.

Thanks for stopping by my blog the other day. I haven't been very good with catching up with people stopping by!

Happy Stitching!

I love your kitty finish!
It always amazes me at how long it takes me to finish up a simple stitch. Then again when I think of how full my days are it's a wonder I get anything stitched at all!
I hope your hubby's surgery goes well and that you can keep your spirits up.
