Spring is here

I had the day off today and started the day my favorite way. Lots of coffee and some free stitching time! The problem is tearing myself away to get some chores done.

I was a good girl and did make some phone calls I had been putting off...calling the gas company, playing with numbers to see if we should refinance our home, calling a landscape company about some much needed work, financial aid stuff for college. I made no progress on any of this, but at least I got some information.

Prairie Schooler "Spring Has Come"

As you can see, I hop around a lot when I'm stitching. I hope I can get this done within a week because I need to make my April ornie and I want to get started on a gift for my mom. I've had a few problems with the frogs and I just noticed that the larger bird is off by one stitch and that his beak will hit the border if I don't redo him. Drat and double drat! I always tell myself that I will count twice and stitch once, but it never fails that I will add or miss a stitch and set the whole thing off.

I know you all can relate to this!

Looking up for a commercial or glance at the TV sometimes throws me off a stitch too....sorry about your bird, :(
It DOES look fabulous though...I really love PS!

Sorry about your bird, but the rest of the sampler is lovely. Great progress

I've ever properly stitched a PS design...it's so easy to make an error and not notice it until it's too late. I don't think anyone will ever notice that you've made a mistake. :)

My stitching autobiography could be entitled "Too Bad She Can't Count". I feel your pain.

Barb, that looks wonderful! To frog or not to frog, that is the question and personal preference sometimes. I try and make it work by fudging the design slightly if I can. I'm always afraid I'll pull something else loose if I frog. Good luck!

I can totally relate---can you just shorten his beak by one stitch? I sure wouldn't rip him out--but try to improvise somehow!

I love the words on your stitching. Oh, my- I feel your pain....frogs - no place in stitching!!! Only a fellow cross stitcher will understand the anguish and time that goes into fixing a mistake. People who don't stitch will say "no one will notice" but I assure you, family members who hear you grumbling and fussing when you try to compensate for a mistake surely notice!!

For me, the worst miscounting is on a border and it doesn't match up! ARGH!

Sometimes I feel better just taking the way of the frog so I don't look at the "Mistake" every time I see the finished piece. We're a tough bunch to please, huh??LOL!

I just looked at the bird again - it looks like you could probably revise the beak a bit and it will look great. That's a big bird to frog for a few stitches. When I have to revise a pattern to accommodate a mistake I think "Hey, the pattern is the designer's idea - it can be my own way!" Good luck.

I love your progress on this design, sorry about the misplaced bird, maybe you can shorten his beak a little, it would be a shame to have to frog him out
