Unsuccessful quest

I was unable to find a match for the Gentle Arts burnt orange thread at Just Stitching in Strongsville but I did find some other goodies.  I'm not going to tell about those for now as I plan to use what I bought for gifts.  Needless to say, I spent way more than what a skein of thread costs!
 
It's frustrating that dye lots are so different!  The dye lot I used is so bright and cheerful and the new one is so muted and much more brown than orange.  I don't understand why there isn't more consistency in the dye lots.  I don't mind subtle changes but I think this is kind of ridiculous.

Enough complaining!  I forgot to mention in my last post that I was a winner of a subscription to the Gift of Stitching E-zine that Barbara offered as a give-away.  I have my eye on some of the projects in my first issue.  Thank you ever so much Barbara!  I am thrilled to pieces.

I will have to take a look at my skein at home and see if it's the brighter colorway. If so, I can just send you a length or two...

I find the variations in dye lots incredible frustrating some times. It is like the company doesn't particularly care. I will say that I have had good luck matching Dinky Dyes and DMC, but that's about it.

Very sorry you couldn't find a similar dye lot. The perils of hand-dyed annd over-dyed.

Hi Barb,
Thanks for the info about Spybot. I did a "system restore" yesterday, back to the day before the computer installed some sort of "System Defragmentor" ( i.e fake protection that is a virus) and everything seems to be running OK for now. I do get these po-ups that try to go to another webpage while I am still on my current page. They seem like harmless sights, but I shut them down right away because I can see they are trying to download some more "protection programs" for my computer. If I can get rid of that annoyance I think I am back to 100%.

I'm sorry you couldn't find a close enough match for your floss. :( That is frustrating. I have had it happen too. One time I even called them to tell them that in the kit I received there were two different colors that looked exactly the same! They sent me what I needed. Hey, if you can find a number to call the GAST people maybe they will too. It's worth a try.

I sympathize with your dye lot problems, especially since I'm having one of my own right now. My focus project is on hold indefinitely till I find a match to the floss I need.

Checked my stash for your color but didn't come up with it. Good luck with your search for the match.
